NEC leading the way with E2E OpenFlow

SDN and NFV should put the network right back in the hands – and under the control – of the telecoms operator, says Gerry Feeney, Head of Market Development SDN/NFV EMEA, NEC Europe. Gerry points out that NEC was the first vendor to deliver an end-to-end OpenFlow solution with switches and from that position he thinks telcos see the opportunity – in NFV especially – to reverse the outsourcing trend and to integrate and manage the network themselves, perhaps even becoming integrators or network service providers for other telcos.
